Deep Statistics & Level System

Every session becomes XP. Every XP becomes a level. The app remembers everything so you never forget your progress.

Why it matters

Most wellness apps show you a session count and call it analytics. A single number tells you almost nothing about the quality or composition of your practice — it does not show which techniques you favor, how your mood trends after different types of sessions, whether your consistency is building or eroding, or how much time you have genuinely invested in your respiratory health. BreathMAX's Deep Statistics system captures your full practice history with the granularity that actually informs behavior change. Total sessions, total minutes, per-preset breakdowns, mood averages over time, most-practiced exercise, streak history, and a gamified level progression system built on XP — every session deposits data into a layered dashboard that reveals patterns in your practice that a simple counter never would. For users who have linked Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android, session data integrates with the broader health ecosystem, and where HRV data is available from a paired wearable, BreathMAX surfaces average HRV trends alongside your breath training history. Statistics are not an afterthought in BreathMAX — they are the evidence layer that turns a wellness habit into a measurable practice.

Inside the feature

The Statistics dashboard in BreathMAX is organized around four primary views: Overview, Per-Preset, Level, and Mood.

**Overview** shows your lifetime session count, total cumulative minutes, current streak, longest streak ever, and the date you started using BreathMAX. These figures update after every session and reflect all session types — curated presets, custom patterns from the Custom Exercise Builder, and Breath Hold Challenge sessions.

**Per-Preset Breakdown** is the feature that experienced practitioners find most valuable. Every preset in your library — including custom patterns — accumulates its own session count and total time independently. This means you can see that you have completed forty-three sessions of your 4-7-8 Sleep preset versus twelve sessions of box breathing, and that you have spent over three hours in your custom deep relaxation pattern versus forty minutes in Energize presets. This granularity reveals your actual practice composition versus your intended one — often a more honest picture.

**Level System** turns cumulative XP into a visible progression ladder. Each completed session awards XP based on duration and pattern type — a longer, more complex session earns more XP than a short single-cycle run. Every thirty XP advances you one level. The level progression bar is visible on the main stats view and on your profile. This is not a feature designed for gamers — it is an evidence-based application of variable-ratio reinforcement that behavioral research has shown to sustain engagement in practice-based habits over months and years.

**Mood Ratings** are collected after every session via a simple 1-to-5 scale. Over time, this data populates an average mood trend chart that shows your post-session emotional state across weeks and months. More usefully, mood data is broken down by preset — you can see that your 4-7-8 sessions average 4.6 out of 5, while your Energize sessions average 3.8. This informs future practice choices and feeds back into the Smart Shuffle algorithm, which biases recommendations toward your highest-rated pattern types.

For users on iOS with Apple Health linked, BreathMAX writes breathing session data (duration, start time) to the Health app's Mindfulness category. If you use an Apple Watch or a compatible HRV monitor, BreathMAX can read average HRV data from HealthKit and display it alongside your session history — giving you a physiological correlation layer that few dedicated breathing apps provide. Android users with Health Connect enabled receive the equivalent integration, including session data writes and HRV reads from compatible devices.

**Session Export** is available from the statistics screen. Tap Export to download your session history as a CSV file, which includes date, preset name, duration, and mood rating for every logged session. This is useful for practitioners sharing progress with coaches or healthcare providers, and for researchers tracking longitudinal outcomes from structured breathwork protocols.

All statistics data is stored locally on your device and backed up to your BreathMAX account when signed in. Your data is not shared with third parties and is not used for advertising targeting. The export function gives you full data portability.

How to use it

Tap the Statistics icon in the BreathMAX bottom navigation bar. The Overview tab shows your lifetime totals and streak history. Swipe to the Per-Preset tab to see session counts and total time broken down by individual exercise. Tap the Level tab to view your current XP, level, and progress toward the next level. Tap the Mood tab to see your average post-session mood trend over time, broken down by preset type. To link Apple Health or Health Connect, go to Settings, then Integrations, and follow the authorization prompts. To export your session history, tap the Export button in the top right corner of the Statistics overview screen and choose CSV format. Mood ratings are collected automatically after each session — the prompt appears on the post-session screen and takes two seconds to complete.

Frequently asked questions

What does the statistics dashboard track?
The dashboard tracks total sessions, total cumulative minutes, current and longest-ever streak, per-preset session counts and time, XP and level progress, and post-session mood ratings. For users with Apple Health or Health Connect linked, it also surfaces average HRV data where available from a paired device.
How does the XP and level system work?
Every completed session awards XP based on the session duration and pattern complexity. Thirty XP advances you one level. There is no level cap. The progression bar is visible on both the Statistics screen and your profile, and it updates immediately after each session completes.
Can I see statistics for individual breathing exercises?
Yes. The Per-Preset tab in the Statistics dashboard shows session count and total minutes for every exercise in your library individually — curated presets, custom patterns, and Breath Hold Challenge sessions all appear in the breakdown.
Does BreathMAX link to Apple Health or Google Health Connect?
Yes. On iOS, BreathMAX can read and write data from Apple Health, including session data and HRV readings from compatible wearables. On Android, the equivalent integration is available via Health Connect. Both integrations require explicit user authorization in Settings under Integrations.
Can I export my session data?
Yes. From the Statistics overview screen, tap Export to download your full session history as a CSV file. The export includes date, preset name, session duration, and mood rating for every logged session. You can share this with a coach, therapist, or healthcare provider, or archive it for your own records.
Is my statistics data private?
Yes. Session data is stored locally on your device and backed up to your BreathMAX account when signed in. It is not sold to or shared with third parties, and it is not used for advertising. The CSV export gives you complete ownership and portability of your data.
What is the mood rating and why should I fill it in?
After each session, BreathMAX prompts a 1-to-5 mood rating that takes about two seconds to complete. Over time, this data populates a mood trend chart in the Statistics dashboard and feeds into the Smart Shuffle algorithm — which uses your highest-rated pattern types to generate better personalized recommendations. The more sessions you rate, the more accurate the recommendations become.
