Achievements

Twelve milestones that celebrate your progress — from your very first breath to marathon endurance.

Why it matters

Most wellness apps track what you do but never pause to acknowledge how far you have come. You finish a session, close the app, and move on — no recognition, no milestone marker, nothing to signal that a habit is actually forming. That absence of feedback is one of the quiet reasons people stop showing up. BreathMAX's Achievements system is built to close that gap. Twelve distinct milestones cover the full arc of a breathwork journey — from the first time you complete a guided session, through seven-day and thirty-day streaks, to the moment you log a cumulative hour of breath training. Each badge is designed around behaviors that reflect genuine progress: consistency over time, depth of practice, and willingness to explore different techniques. When you unlock an achievement, the app celebrates with a full-screen popup and subtle haptic feedback — a small but deliberate signal that your body registered something real. Badges persist across reinstalls via account sync, so starting fresh on a new phone never means starting over on your journey. Whether you are a first-time practitioner trying to build a three-day habit or an experienced breathworker pushing toward your longest streak, the Achievements system gives you a visible, layered map of where you stand.

Inside the feature

The twelve achievements in BreathMAX span three categories of progress: streak-based, session-based, and minute-based. Streak badges reward daily consistency — the most predictive factor in habit formation research. Session badges acknowledge how many times you have intentionally shown up to practice, regardless of duration. Minute badges honor the depth of your commitment, recognizing the cumulative time you have invested in your breath.

Here is the full ladder. On the streak track, you unlock First Flame at three days, Week Warrior at seven days, and Month Master at thirty consecutive days. On the session track, First Breath is awarded after your very first completed session, Dedicated at ten sessions, and Century at one hundred. On the minute track, Five Minutes marks your first five cumulative training minutes, Hour Breather your first sixty, and Marathon Breather your first full hour of breath-hold endurance combined with guided sessions.

Each unlock triggers a celebration popup with the badge's name, a short description of why it matters, and a soft haptic pulse for the moment to land physically — not just visually. The sound cue tied to achievements can be toggled independently in Settings if you prefer silent practice environments. All twelve badges are visible on your profile screen at any time, with locked achievements shown as silhouettes so you always know what is coming next.

The Achievements system is closely tied to the Streak System and Statistics Tracking features. Your current streak counter feeds directly into the streak-based badges, and your total session and minute tallies are drawn from the same data pool that powers your stats dashboard. This means every workout — whether it is a two-minute Calm preset, a custom CO₂ table you built in the Custom Exercise Builder, or a breath-hold session in the Breath Hold Challenge — counts toward badge progress simultaneously.

For athletes working with coaches, achievements provide a lightweight accountability layer. Coaches can ask clients to screenshot their badge screen as part of weekly check-ins. For therapists introducing breathwork to patients with anxiety or sleep disorders, the First Breath and Dedicated badges provide early positive reinforcement at exactly the moments patients are most likely to disengage. The Achievements system is free for all users — there is no premium gate on earning or viewing your badges.

How to use it

Open BreathMAX and complete any guided breathing session to earn your first achievement. After the session ends, if a badge has been unlocked, a celebration screen will appear automatically — tap anywhere to dismiss it. To view all twelve achievements at any time, tap your profile icon in the top corner of the home screen, then select Achievements. Locked badges appear as silhouettes with progress indicators showing how close you are to the next unlock. Badge sound effects can be turned on or off by going to Settings, then Sound, and toggling Achievement Sounds. Your achievement data syncs automatically when you are signed into your BreathMAX account, so switching devices does not reset your progress. There is no action required beyond practicing — the system tracks everything in the background.

Frequently asked questions

How many achievements are in BreathMAX?
There are twelve achievements organized across three tracks: streak-based (consistency over consecutive days), session-based (total number of completed sessions), and minute-based (cumulative minutes of breath training). Every achievement is visible on the profile screen, including ones you have not yet unlocked.
Are achievements free or do they require a premium subscription?
All twelve achievements are completely free. There is no premium gate on earning badges or viewing your progress. Any user, regardless of subscription status, has full access to the achievement system.
Do achievements reset if I reinstall the app or switch phones?
No. As long as you are signed into your BreathMAX account, achievements sync automatically and persist across reinstalls, device switches, and platform migrations between iOS and Android.
Which session types count toward achievement progress?
Every completed session counts — guided category presets (Calm, Focus, Energize, and others), custom patterns you build in the Custom Exercise Builder, and Breath Hold Challenge sessions. The system tracks session count and cumulative minutes from all session types simultaneously.
Can I turn off the achievement sound and popup?
You can turn off the achievement sound cue in Settings under Sound by toggling Achievement Sounds. The popup itself cannot be disabled, but it dismisses with a single tap and does not block your session in progress.
Does missing a day reset my streak-based achievement progress?
The Streak System includes a grace day window, so a single missed day does not immediately reset your streak — and therefore does not reset your streak-based achievement progress. However, missing two or more consecutive days will reset the streak counter.
Is there a way to see how close I am to the next achievement?
Yes. On the Achievements screen, locked badges display a progress indicator showing your current count versus the required threshold — for example, '7 of 30 days' for the Month Master badge. This updates in real time after each session.
